ZOL SIV'KOR EK'AT VOM (The Sigil of Creation), Acrylic on Canvas, 2024, 48” x 36”

A sigil is a magical spell or ritual made physical. This tradition dates back centuries, although in modern times, many practitioners in esoteric spheres create their own meanings, purposes, and intentions. ZOL SIV'KOR EK'AT VOM is an immensely detailed sigil that depicts a myriad of inscriptions. The inscriptions focus on a central symbol known as ERZ. This rune, with its upward-pointed crescent, shines towards the heavens. This is a symbol of light, of knowledge, and creation.
My work lies behind veils; the words written here are not meant to be read by all. Much like my existence as a non-binary individual, even more so one who wears a mask online, my work is dripping in esoteric symbolism. The words written here are meant to spark curiosity, to give those who view it a reason to delve deeper. This sigil, the Sigil of Creation, marked with gold and fire, is one filled with inscriptions of a positive nature. These words, written in my language of Sul'voth, are words praising the act of creation and exploration. This is an artist's sigil, one to inspire through complexity and praise.
Each facet is tied to different aspects of this sacred act. The top corners are marked with a rune named THU. This symbol represents communication. This is an aspect that we, as artists, explore so deeply. What we seek to say and how we say it are so vital.
At the base of the sigil lies a rune named ZITH. This rune, in tandem with its other meanings, can focus on release. This is a reminder to myself and others that our work must be released and shared. Art can do wonders for the soul, but to have our work truly resonate deeply with others is as meaningful as art can be.
This work gives praise to the rune of creation in religious fervour, while simultaneously instilling inspiration in those who seek to create.
